HomeTips and TricksPremiere Pro playhead trick

Move your playhead in Adobe Premiere Pro from anywhere in your timeline with this simple little trick.

You’ll need a mouse with a third button, like a scroll-wheel, that you can map to a custom keystroke.

First, map your scroll wheel button to a custom keystroke (I used shift+⌃+⌥+⌘+c)

Then, in Premiere Pro, map that custom keystroke to the command “Move Playhead to Cursor.”

Boom, that’s it! Now you can move your cursor from anywhere in your timeline with the push of your scroll-wheel.
